Wellness - EXERCISE EURGH!

So far this month we have covered the food we need to keep well and I have explained the benefits of a regular therapeutic massage, so this week I am going to cover that dreaded thing we all hate – exercise! But when I say exercise I mean anything from walking the dog to weight lifting. I am not a fan of aggressive gym-type exercise and as a non-driver, I have to find something very local or something I can do at home, preferably the latter.

My usual go to is to do Zumba on my Wii 3 or 4 times a week before I start work, but it leaves me in a puffed out sweaty mess! And I start at 8 am and found I had to get up at 5:45 just to fit it all in; have a shower, get ready, then go to work, which is hard!

So, to my delight while watching episode 6 of ‘Trust me, I’m a doctor, the other week, you can see it here, they carried out a 12 week experiment on two groups of people, one group did Zumba, one did Tai Chi and they compared things like blood pressure, heart rate, antioxidant levels, general fitness and lots more, only to find that they both had the same results! Excellent!

So, I have found some YouTube beginners Tai Chi videos, see above, I am going to start myself on Monday, you just need 10 minutes every day, no gym kit, no mats or special equipment, just you and some loose clothing. Are you in? Click the video above to get started now. Come on people, let’s do this! I will let you know how I get on…
